DIVISION STANDARDS

Choosing the right divison matters.

Divisions are designed to help teams compete at the right level, stay competitive all weekend, and have a great experience on and off the competition floor.

Read over the division standards from top to bottom.
Talk to your team members, and your coaches.
Pick the division that best reflects the majority of your team’s abilities.

OPEN DIVISION

This division is for teams who:

  • Are newer to competitions

  • Have foundational experience performing barbell movements and scaled gymnastics movements

  • Want a competitive weekend without testing skills or heavy loading under fatigue

  • Complete the CrossFit Open® workouts entirely scaled

You should NOT choose this division if:

  • You can perform gymnastics movements Rx’d in workouts
    (i.e pullups, toes-to-bar, etc)

  • Are comfortable lifting intermediate barbell loads under fatigue (i.e. Grace @ 135/95)

  • Routinely train and compete above scaled standards

This division is for teams who:

  • Train consistently and are comfortable with moderate-to-challenging workouts

  • Can perform pull-ups, toes-to-bars and higher-rep barbell work

  • Want a competitive test that focuses on basic fitness skills

  • Complete the CrossFit Open® workouts partially scaled

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

You should NOT choose this division if:

  • You can perform complex gymnastics movements Rx’d in workouts
    (i.e. Bar Muscle-Ups)

  • Are comfortable performing advanced barbell movements under fatigue
    (i.e. Squat Snatch Isabel @ 135/95)

  • Routinely train and compete at Rx standards

This division is for teams who:

  • Are experienced competitors with strong barbell and gymnastics capacity

  • Can perform advanced gymnastics movements under fatigue like Chest-to-Bar Pull-ups and Single Rep Bar Muscle-Ups

  • Want a competitive weekend that challenges their fitness skills

  • Complete the CrossFit Open workouts entirely RX

Competitive (RX) DIVISION

You should NOT choose this division if:

  • You rarely train with advanced gymnastics or heavy loads under fatigue

  • Are still building consitency with higher-skill movements, especially fatigued

  • Are chasing an elite-level test

This division is for teams who:

  • Are Masters-aged athletes (all 40+) looking for a competitive but approachable test

  • Train consistently and are comfortable with moderate barbell movements and basic gymnastics under fatigue

  • Can perform movements like pull-ups, toes-to-bar and controlled barbell cycling

  • Want to compete hard without advanced gymnastics or heavy loading under fatigue

  • Partially scale the CrossFit Open® workouts for their age group

MASTERS DIVISION

You should NOT choose this division if:

  • You regularly train or compete at the RX level

  • Are comfortable with advanced gymnastics or heavier barbell loads in workouts

  • Want the most demanding fitness test of the weekend

  • Are under 40 years old
